My Goodness

Many Christians casually say, “My Goodness,” but could this phrase actually grieve the Holy Spirit?

In addition to the command not to take the Lord’s name in vain, the Bible contains numerous warnings about the use of our words. Jesus cautioned that we will give an account for every careless word spoken on the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36).

Jesus also declared that only God the Father is truly good, as recorded in Matthew 19:17, Mark 10:18, and Luke 18:19.

Could the common phrase “My Goodness” unintentionally refer to “My God” or “Father God”?

Interestingly, “Gracious” is often paired with “My Goodness,” further reflecting God’s character.

Just something to think about.
