Divorce and Remarriage

In “Divorce and Remarriage,” Derek Prince calls widespread divorce a primary tool of evil that is disintegrating both society and the Church. He blames worldly views of marriage and poor preparation. Scripture, he argues, consistently allows divorce and remarriage when one spouse commits porneia (any sexual immorality) or when an unbeliever deserts a believer. The innocent partner is fully released; punishing them equally is unjust. God completely forgives and cleanses repentant divorced people, removing all guilt. Through Christ’s substitutionary rejection on the cross, He heals the deep wound of rejection, enabling a fruitful new start. Mercy must triumph over judgment.
