Fellowship – The Central Purpose of the Local Church

The central purpose of the local church is fellowship with God and others, essential for spiritual growth and realising God’s purposes. This fellowship, centred on sharing Jesus Christ, is crucial. Activities such as preaching, building institutions, and missions are secondary and flow naturally from this core objective. True fellowship leads to spiritual birth and strengthens the bond among believers, bringing them into a deeper relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Without genuine fellowship, the church’s efforts remain merely human endeavors, lacking the Spirit’s transformative power. Therefore, fostering and nurturing this fellowship with God and others is the supreme purpose of the local church.
